We all know the classic RV dilemma: how do you stay fit when your home-on-wheels has less floor space than a standard bathroom? We asked our adventurous readers about their strategies for staying in shape while embracing the nomadic lifestyle.
This burning question was the centerpiece of our latest community poll, and the results are in. For those who participated through our newsletter, a huge thank you for contributing to these fascinating findings. The community has spoken, and the data paints a very clear picture of fitness on the road. Here’s a breakdown of how everyone voted.
| Fitness Equipment | Percentage |
|---|---|
| Yoga Mat | 0% |
| Resistance Bands | 7% |
| Dumbbells | 10% |
| Jump Rope | 0% |
| None | 83% |
The Reigning Champion: Absolutely Nothing
Let’s all give a round of applause for the undisputed winner: “None.” This option didn’t just win; it achieved a landslide victory worthy of a celebratory nap.
It seems the most popular exercise for many RVers is lifting a coffee mug to their lips. Followed closely by the strenuous activity of unfolding a camping chair.
Who needs dumbbells when you can get a full-arm workout wrestling with a stubborn RV awning?
The Valiant Effort Squad
A small but mighty 10% of voters are out there pumping iron. We salute you, dumbbell devotees, for finding space for them between the spare hoses and the emergency snack stash.
Another 7% are getting creative with resistance bands. They’re perfect for a workout and can also double as a makeshift clothesline or a way to secure a wobbly picnic table.
Your ingenuity is truly inspiring.
The Ghosts of Workouts Past
Then we have the options that received a resounding zero percent. Not a single soul reported bringing a jump rope.
This is likely because the sound of the rope slapping the pavement would be mistaken for a misfiring generator, sending the entire campground into a panic.
And the humble yoga mat? Also zero. It appears the great outdoors provides plenty of mats, also known as “the grass.”
Why “None” Won in a Landslide
We believe the overwhelming victory of “None” boils down to a beautiful blend of practicality and philosophy. The RV lifestyle is inherently active; setting up camp, hiking new trails, and exploring quaint towns provide more natural exercise than many realize.
Most RVers are on vacation or embracing a life of adventure, and the last thing they want to do is replicate the grind of a home gym in their limited space. Ultimately, the freedom of the road is the priority, and for 83% of you, that means your main fitness equipment is a sturdy pair of walking shoes and a sense of exploration.
