Are you considering hitting the open road, but not sure what kind of RV is right for you? Maybe you’ve always pictured yourself in a massive fifth wheel or a sprawling Class A motorhome, but have you ever wondered what it’s really like to travel in a Class B RV?

These compact, van-style campers have been gaining popularity, but many still wonder if the small size is worth the trade-off in comfort and convenience.

To get the inside scoop, we found a video from Five2Go, where Bri and Aaron take on the challenge of living in a Class B for a few days.

1. The Adventure Begins: First Impressions of the Class B

Bri and Aaron kick off their “strange and wonderful adventure” by admitting they’ve tried every type of RV except a Class B. Invited by Sunshine State RVs in Gainesville, Florida, they’re given the keys to a top-of-the-line 24T Mercedes Sprinter to test out at the Ocala RV Show.

“We have never considered a Class B, so that is my underlying goal…to convince you that a Class B RV is great for a single person, a couple, or a family with a few kids,” says Nick, their RV guide. The couple’s initial reaction? “It’s small. It’s a good thing that Brian and I like each other!”

If you’re worried about tight quarters, just remember: nothing brings couples closer together than fighting over who gets the good swivel seat.

2. Features and Floor Plan: Surprising Comforts in a Small Space

Despite its modest appearance, the Class B is packed with features. “This is the biggest of the vans…24 feet, all-wheel drive, lithium batteries, and a power door,” Nick points out.

Inside, there’s a swiveling dinette, a fixed bed with reclining sections, a smart TV, induction stove, microwave, and even a “big fridge and freezer.”

Bri jokes, “We don’t even remember what it’s called!” but soon finds herself impressed by the clever use of space: “This could be a living room, could be a dining room, could be like a family room.” Who knew you could have so many rooms in a van—take that, tiny house movement!

3. Living and Storage: Making It Work

One of the biggest concerns with a Class B RV is storage and livability. But the couple is pleasantly surprised. “There’s also a ton of storage underneath here that you access from the back,” says Nick, highlighting the “garage” area. The double-door bathroom, induction stove, and ample storage make the space feel more like a cozy studio apartment than a cramped van.

Bri admits, “I kind of like the warm wood in here, homie.” If you can fit your essentials and still have room for your collection of novelty mugs, you’re basically living the dream.

4. Showering and Tanks: Adjusting Expectations

Let’s be real—everyone wants to know about the bathroom situation. “How long of a shower do I get?” Bri asks. Nick explains, “It’s a military shower…freshwater is in the 30s [gallons], black water is about 8 or 10 gallons, gray water is about 25 gallons.”

Translation: shower like you’re in a shampoo commercial, but only for about 90 seconds. On the bright side, you’ll save a fortune on water bills and never have to argue about leaving the hot water running.

5. Driving and Social Life: Hitting the Road (and Making Friends)

Driving a Class B is a game-changer, especially for those intimidated by larger rigs. “It’s not so big and so hard—you can back it in, you can drive it,” Nick reassures. Aaron laughs, “He said back it in. I don’t even back in my minivan!”

Plus, with a Coachman van at the rally, Bri and Aaron are told, “You’re in a Coachman, so they’re all going to want to be friends with you—yay, insta friends!” If you’re looking for a vehicle that’s easy to drive and comes with a built-in fan club, a Class B might just be your ticket.

6. The Verdict: Would They Switch?

So, did Bri and Aaron get convinced to switch from their 45-foot fifth wheel to a nimble Class B? The challenge is on! “How do you think Brian and I are going to do on this adventure that Nick is challenging us to do?” Bri asks viewers.

While the couple admits the size is an adjustment, they’re excited to see how the experience changes their perspective. After all, sometimes the best adventures come in small packages—and if all else fails, there’s always the option to hide in the bathroom for some alone time.
